How to Conduct Patriotic Education among the Youth of Today As we know, patriotic education is an important part of Chinese education. From the time we came to school, we began to have patriotic education class. From these class, we know much history about the patriotic and the famous person. What’s more, we know that I’m Chinese, I should study hard that I can serve our motherland in the future. Why we pay so much attention to the patriotic education? Because it can may our country more and more Solidarity, all the ethnic groups live together in peace environment and we also can improve the ability to resist the provocation of other countries. In my opinion, first, patriotic education class in school is essential to the Youth of Today. Secondly, we also let them take part in more Practice activities, such as visit the Patriotism Education Base, help the olds clean their house…..let them know we should show our patriotism in our daily life. My study report about the last leaf last week I learned the passage written by O,Henry. The story happened in an autumn, Johnsy, the sad girl, had a bad serious illness. And she thought she would die soon. She looked attentively at a leaf outside the window, and told to Sue who cared for her that she would die when the last leaf fell. Sue didn’t know how to let Johnsy make up her will to live on and knew that there would be a rainstorm soon which means that the leaf will be blown off. So she found Behrman an old painter who regarded himself as guard dog the two young artists. He also didn’t want Johnsy to die. What’s more he wanted to give her a wish to live. For continuing the girl’s life, Behrman drew a green leaf on the wall when it rained heavily. At that night, his shoes and clothing were wet through and icy cold. The following day, the girl woke up, and she was surprised to see that the green leaf did not be blown off. Her wish came true, and her mood became better and better. In the end, the girl is recovered to health. But, at last, Behrman died of pneumonia ,but the wish that a leaf never grew old came true in the girl’s heart. In fact, continuing the girl’s life is also Behrman’s wish. If only the life never grow old, the wish will be young forever. After reading the last leaf, I was deeply shocked and moved. I was quite sure O'Henry is trying to tell us a story about hope, motivating & sacrifice. He is setting out from the waypoint called desperation and ending his writing in a profound dawn. We know that life will go through in spite of evil because we are taught so. We learn we shall never lose heart because we are told so. We read the passage in the text book because we have to. Many things have changed our view upon the world that truth is always given from other's remark. In fact we can believe in what we have seen by ourselves and the choice is over your hands. We, college students, can easily make out that this story is ridiculous to a certain extent but why we should always be doubt of everything. The polt should be the second thing we take to discussion .The essential is that motivaing is still the noble quality of all the personality, and sacrifice is the one that follow. And Behrman is the person who tell us that today we can't see any knight but knight's tale still exist. The old saying , only the believed can be saved, always run through my mind. The last leaf will not ever leave us alone in the moment when we are sure about our world, though it is a complete kind of mess, it is still based on love and morality and people can realize their dream by both going forward alone and fire himself to light other's dark wet passage. We will release, seeing the latter person is respected and he is not the last one. Please believe that our life is so Precious which only have one time. And the world still full of love, we should live a good life with best wish , never things to give up, because the choice is over your hands. When my father died 15 years ago, my brother and I inherited the old Midwestern farmhouse our grandparents had purchased in the 1930s. I was the one who decided to make a life in this village, population 350, in northern Michigan. A job in the English department of a nearby college quickly followed. I settled into small-town life, charmed by a community where your neighbors are also your friends and no one worries about locking a door. Eventually I forgot about the big-city stress of crowds, noise and crime. I was totally unprepared when I returned home one evening to an answering machine filled with horribly threatening messages. Shocked and frightened, I called 911, and soon my would-be assailant (攻击者) was arrested, according to police, drunk, armed with a 19-inch double-edged knife and just minutes from my door. It was revealed in court testimony (证词) that he was a schizophrenic (精神分裂症患者) who had fallen through the cracks of the mental health system. In spite of my 10-year personal protection, I live with the fear that he will return unsupervised to my community. Time and again, colleagues and friends have urged me to get a gun to protect myself. But I haven't gotten a gun, and I'm not going to. The truth is when you keep a gun for self-protection, you live with constant paranoia (妄想狂). For me, owning a gun and practicing at a target range would be allowing my sense of victimization to corrupt (毁坏) my deepest values. In general, people like me will be forced to consider getting guns to protect ourselves. I survived. I know my fear cannot be managed with a gun. The only reasonable response is to do what I can to help fix the mental health system. Awareness, education and proper funding will save more lives and relieve (减轻) more fear than all the guns we can buy. 1. After inherited the farmhouse, who lived in it?____ A.
