Title: Analysis on the effect of social changes in forever amber 1.Introduction: What is the subject you have discovered? After reading forever amber, I have a strong feeling to analyze the question what causes the main character Amber’s life sufferings in sociology theories. In the information era, what should we do to face the social changes reasonably .To analyze the social backgrounds and offer suggestions would be my subject of my paper. What methods do you intend to adopt? To use sociology theories such as Deviance ,altruism ,egoism and era background to give a dissection about the characters in forever amber. Why do you take interest in this subject? Like what I have said in the previous paragraphs, we should take objective attitude to view the society ,absorb experience from the past ,face it and adopt to it with the changes of social background .This is the question drawing my attention. How are the source materials you have read or mean to read related to the subject? First of all ,I read the novels of the author K.WINSOR: Forever Amber in both English and Chinese version. Then I went online to search for some book reviews of other materials from those big newspapers and websites such as CNKI.net .This certainly is not enough. Later I read«当代国外社会学理论»，«古典时期社会学理论»，«后现代社会学理论»等。 2.Literature Review Published in 1944 ,It created a sensation and catapulted it´s author to instant name. Considered bawdy and immoral ,the book was banned in Boston, but it sold over two million copies .The authors points out the excesses of the court –adultery, rape, rampant love affairs ,illegitimate children ,and abortions-and we recognized the ever day sensuality, greed, duplicity ,and treachery of the era; Kathleen Winsor managed to make the Restoration Period vivid and real, and her fictional characters spring readily to life on the page .she also created a marvelous sense of time and place and it is this that sets the tone of the novel. Amber , beauty and sexy, may be immoral, but the court of Charles11 is worse: bawdy ,brutal ,cruel ,and wicked .On the other hand ,when it comes to the imagination of the reader. Born illegitimate, of aristocratic but unwed parents ,she is brought up by a famer and his wife as their niece .At the age of 16 she is captivated by a dashing cavalier passing through her village ,and she goes off to London with Bruce. She never looks back .She has adventurous life experiences many lovers and rising fortunes Praise for forever amber: “Every ounce sizzles.”-time “Winsor is a born storyteller”-New York Times 3.Method How do you plan to do the research? My paper is about a literature work, so I read related materials to collect information. What methods do you intend to adopt? First ,I search some knowledge of the author and her life background and motivation of the novels. Second, I visit those famous newspapers, website for their book review and professional courses. Thus I need to read more books related to sociology. What are the procedures you mean to follow? Firstly ,I will introduce the novel, the main characters ,and the relationship between them. After that I will focus mainly on Amber and Bruce .Their early life experience, their sufferings and their sorrow ending. Then I will introduce the author´s era background ,the social changes and Deviance theories. I will list it´s main supporting theories. Then I will combine the real situation in China and analyze the reason why it is like that which could probably support my argument. In the third part ,I willconnect modern life and offer suggestions to face social changes. 4.Result When one faces social change, he may behave uneasy and even crazy to adapt Deviance to resist against the society. He may credit a crime or take egoism to yield to role strain . 5.Discussion What is the relationship between your anticipated results and the previous achievements of others? I chose several angels to start my research ,they were the Deviance ,stereotype, egoism, altruism .I tried to develop my argument step by step. Amber came into London-a more modern and complex society, she gradually lost herself in survival at the begaining. But when she found the rules, she adopted to the life with money and status. however, she followed a lie to pursue her lover. What practical or theoretical value do you think your research might have? In the new era of reform and open, our life have changed a lot, and we need to adopt a new surroundings. We should absorb spirit of Amber to adjust to the society with criticism. What are the limitations of your methods and materials, and the difficulties you may possibly encounter? Most of my research would be done through reading. The limitation of my method is the materials I got could be less completed. Things changing every day the materials written in that period can´t represent what is at that moment. Thus I have to adapt it to the new situations .Another difficulty I may encounter is the background of the restoration of Stuttgart. Therefore, I have to collect information related to that age ,such as it´s background ,causes , results ,influences. How do you plan to overcome the difficulties?
