The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, is located in the heart of Beijing, China. It was built during the Ming Dynasty in the early 15th century and served as the imperial palace for emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The Forbidden City covers an area of about 720,000 square meters and consists of over 90 palace complexes with nearly 9,000 rooms. The architecture of the palace is a typical example of traditional Chinese palace architecture and is considered to be the largest and most well-preserved ancient wooden structure in the world.

The Forbidden City has a rich collection of cultural relics and artifacts, including porcelain, jade, calligraphy, paintings, and other treasures. It is home to over 1.8 million pieces of artwork and is one of the most important cultural heritage sites in China.

The Forbidden City is also famous for its beautiful gates, walls, moat, and gardens. The palace is surrounded by high walls and is entered through a series of gateways. The most famous gate is the Meridian Gate, which leads to the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the largest palace hall in the Forbidden City.




Today, the Forbidden City is open to the public as a museum and is a popular attraction for tourists from all over the world. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
